Ezekiel 28:16-22 Modern English Version (MEV)

16. By the multitude of your merchandise, you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned;therefore I have cast you as profane out of the mountain of God;and I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

17. Your heart was lifted upbecause of your beauty;you have corrupted your wisdomby reason of your brightness;I cast you to the ground,I lay you before kings, that they may see you.

18. You have defiled your sanctuariesby the multitude of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your trade;therefore I have brought fire out from your midst;it has devoured you,and I have turned you to ashes upon the earthin the sight of all those who see you.

19. All those who know you among the peopleare astonished at you;you are a terror, and you shall cease to be forever.

20. Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

21. Son of man, set your face toward Sidon and prophesy against her

22. and say, Thus says the Lord God: I am against you, O Sidon;and I will be glorified in your midst;and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I execute judgments in herand display My holiness in her.
