New Testament

John 9:7-22 Modern English Version (MEV)

7. and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went away and washed, and returned seeing.

8. The neighbors and those who had previously seen that he was blind said, “Is this not he who sat and begged?”

9. Some said, “This is he.”Others said, “He is like him.”But he said, “I am he.”

10. So they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?”

11. He answered, “A Man called Jesus made clay, anointed my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went away and washed, and I received my sight.”

12. They said to him, “Where is He?”He said, “I do not know.”

13. They brought the man who had been blind to the Pharisees.

14. Now it was a Sabbath day when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes.

15. Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight. He said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”

16. Some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath day.”Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” So there was division among them.

17. Then they said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him, since He opened your eyes?”He said, “He is a prophet.”

18. But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and received his sight, until they called the parents of the one who had received his sight.

19. They asked them, “Is this your son, whom you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”

20. His parents answered them, “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.

21. But how he now sees, we do not know, or who opened his eyes, we do not know. He is of age. Ask him. He will speak for himself.”

22. His parents said this, because they feared the Jews. For the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed that He was the Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.
