New Testament

John 10:14-31 Modern English Version (MEV)

14. “I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and am known by My own.

15. Even as the Father knows Me, so I know the Father. And I lay down My life for the sheep.

16. I have other sheep who are not of this fold. I must also bring them, and they will hear My voice. There will be one flock and one shepherd.

17. Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it up again.

18. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it up again. I received this command from My Father.”

19. Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings.

20. Many of them said, “He has a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?”

21. Others said, “These are not the words of one who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”

22. The Feast of the Dedication was at Jerusalem, and it was winter.

23. Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s Porch.

24. Then the Jews surrounded Him, saying, “How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.”

25. Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you did not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name bear witness of Me.

26. But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.

27. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

28. I give them eternal life. They shall never perish, nor shall anyone snatch them from My hand.

29. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them from My Father’s hand.

30. My Father and I are one.”

31. Again the Jews took up stones to stone Him.
