Acts 9:38-43 Modern English Version (MEV)

38. Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, pleading, “Do not delay to come to us.”

39. Peter rose up and went with them. When he arrived, they led him into the upper room. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.

40. Peter put them all outside and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.

41. He gave her his hand and lifted her up. And when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive.

42. It became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.

43. He remained in Joppa for many days with Simon, a tanner.
