1. Jacob had twelve sons: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,

3. Judah had five sons in all. By his wife Bathshua, a Canaanite, he had three sons: Er, Onan, and Shelah. His eldest son, Er, was so evil that the Lord killed him.
4. By his daughter-in-law Tamar, Judah had two more sons, Perez and Zerah.
